(why science in the hospital is good)

Playing in the creek!

This cart was designed especially for Healing and Hope Through Science so that kids who are stuck in the hospital can still play in the creek.  The project coordinator, Katie, has always loved playing in creeks- she thinks its just about the most calming and most fun activity there is (now you know where to find her on the weekends…).  This creek is modeled after a stream found on the land of the Green River Preserve.  Katie collected actual rocks and sand from that river that were coated in epoxy for easy cleaning and she added several animal replicas and cloth leaves (for making leaf boats!).

Special thanks to the UNC Epidemiology Team for helping us with disinfection procedures and the UNC Hospitals Dialysis Center for providing us with clean reverse-osmosis water to use in the cart!
